5000 Gallon Rainwater Harvest System in Daytona Beach, Central Florida (FL)
This project consist of installing a 5000 gallon RainXchange (Rainwater Harvest System) in Daytona Beach.
After installing the 5000 gallon holding tank, a decorative fountainscape was installed on top to allow for circulation of the water. This will oxygenate the water and keep it from being stagnant. A 1/2 horsepower booster pump was installed to allow the rainwater to be used throughout the property for hand watering the rose and vegetable gardens. 3 hose bibs were installed in various places for easy access to use the water. The system also has an overflow tank so that once the 5000 gallon basin is full, the excess water can overflow out underground into the soil.
The homeowner has plans to have the yard sodded once the weather cools down and add more plants around the fountain area.
See the slideshow below of construction of this system.

Rainwater Harvest Systems and Tropical Water Gardens
98% of the water features built by Tropical Water Gardens have rainwater harvest systems built into them. Most of the ponds built by Tropical Water Gardens have an underground reservoir to capture and reuse rainwater. The rainwater is stored underground and supplied to the pond. Not only does this save water it keeps the pond water above ground at the same level all the time because the water underground fluctuates with evaporation and not the pond above.

All of Tropical Water Gardens pondless waterfalls, or disappearing waterfalls use this same principal. Water is stored in an underground vault and refilled with rainwater to supply the waterfall. The water flows from top of the waterfall and disappears into the gravel. More information on Tropical Water Gardens pondless waterfalls can be found here. Link
